Nuttall corruption trial enters final stages

Nuttall has pleaded not guilty to more than 30 counts of corruptly receiving almost $360,000 from businessmen Ken Talbot and Harold Shand.

It is alleged Nuttall took the money in return for political favours including Shand's appointment to WorkCover board.

Nuttall has always maintained the money was a loan to help his three children get into the property market.

Yesterday, a Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) investigator told the trial that 42 per cent of the money went to Nuttall's children, while Nuttall kept the rest.

Yesterday, the District Court heard from former Brisbane Broncos director Don Nissen, who said Talbot was a generous man who had loaned Mr Nissen money and given money to Broncos players.

Mr Nissen also told the court that Talbot was paying $1 million to the disabled children of former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.

Prosecutor Ross Martin is expected to give his final address to the jury this morning, before Nuttall is called on to say whether he wants to give evidence.
