I am learning too...so forgive me if this seems to be an "elementary" post to this educated group...
"In a real criminal investigation there is a responsible way to handle the media. TOTAL BLACKOUT!! In a psy-ops the method used is totally different; It is called leak, mislead, hide forensic information and impune a patsy(s). Most people are honest and they try to draw hones conclusions from forensic evidence. In psy-ops the government will leak "inside" information, give misleading anecdotal information, hide the forensics and nominate a patsy to impune. BTW the last count was 55 dead and wounded. Their case gets more preopsterous everyday.
Psychological Operations influence national objectives at the tactical, operational and strategic levels of operations. Strategic psychological operations advance broad or long-term objectives; domestic as well as foreign in nature, they may be directed toward large audiences or at key communicators. (Like FOX News) Operational psychological operations are conducted on a smaller scale. They are employed by theater commanders (Like Fort Hoodwink) to target groups within the theater of operations. Their purpose can range from gaining support for U.S. operations to preparing the American Public for combat. Tactical psychological operations are more limited, used by commanders to secure immediate and near-term goals. In this environment, these domestic political activities serve as a means to influence American public opinion and political leaders by demonstrating the ability to make or create issues and impune other broad based political goals that do not favor the Military/Industrial/Congressional complex.
Under US law, PSY-OP is part of Special Operations forces or activities. The detailed military policy, which implements a declassified Presidential directive is itself classified.
These policies forbid U.S. PSY-OP forces to target (i.e., attempt to change their opinions) U.S. citizens at any time, in any location globally, or under any circumstances. However, commanders may use PSY-OP forces to provide public information to U.S. audiences during times of disaster or crisis. The use of PSY-OP forces to deliver necessary public information to a U.S. audience was established in relief activities after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Tactical Psychological Operations teams (TPTs) were employed to disseminate information. (psy-ops) (The camel got it's nose in the tent in 1992.) The Army then began to use Psy-ops in 9/11 2001 and again this week.
United States PSY-OP units and soldiers of all branches of the military are prohibited by law from conducting PSY-OP missions on domestic audiences. While PSY-OP soldiers may offer non-PSY-OP related support to domestic military missions, PSY-OP can only target foreign audiences. Though, it is worth noting that this does not rule out PSY-OP targeting foreign audiences of allied nations. Additionally, in the Information Operations Roadmap made public January 2006 but originally approved by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in October 2003, it stated "information intended for foreign audiences, including public diplomacy and PSY-OP, increasingly is consumed by our domestic audience and vice-versa."
In other words, it comes from abroad, but gets picked up here. Always read the by lines below the article they will include foreign contributors. like Dalia Nammari in Ramallah, West Bank in the above article. The General in charge of Psy-ops in America is John F. Mulholland, Jr. at Fort Bragg, NC He is responsible for waging info wars against Americans.
Almost immediately after the latest psyops at Fort Hoodwink, the President had to authorize 38,000 additional troops for Afghanistan. The added cost will be $38,000,000,000 per year. Which would be better spent on education and infrastructure and new jobs.
